An exceptional certified consecutive pair of Australia’s scarce 1985 Johnston/Fraser $20 Gothic Serial banknotes, with both notes independently graded PCGS Gem Uncirculated 65 PPQ.
Serial numbered ELQ 964847 and ELQ 964848, the two notes have remained together as a consecutive pair and both achieved the same Gem Uncirculated grade.
The R409b is distinguished by its Gothic-style serial numbering, introduced during the Johnston/Fraser issue and used for a comparatively short production period. The variety is considerably scarcer than the standard R409a OCR-B issue and has become an important type for collectors of Australian decimal paper currency.
